Obituary of Cristeta Pacampara
With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Lola and Great Grandma – Cristeta. Mom passed away on December 4 2017 joining our Dad forever in heaven. Mom was 97 years old. She was born in Calbayog City, Samar, Philippines. She is survived by her children Edgar, Henry, Virgil, Vincent, Allan and Noel; daughters-in-law Annie, Cristina, Irene, Tess, Winnie and Paula; grandchildren Chris, Samantha, Joe, Brian, Paul, Mark, Sidney, Nicole, Paolo, Andre, Jalen and Tiana and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Abby, Quinley, and Mayes; and sister Dolores Payo.
A feisty little lady with a quiet determination rooted in her deep catholic faith - it was this same steely determination that allowed her to send her younger siblings to finish their university education while at the same time pursuing her dream of becoming a school teacher. She completed her own Bachelor's degree in English, majoring in in Literature and continued taking night classes to earn Masters credits. She went to become an elementary school teacher and later on as elementary school principal. Together with Dad, she was able to send all her 6 boys to University each carving their own niches later on.
As a retiree in Canada, she continued to be a kind and supportive mentor to her kids and friends. When presented with a complex problem she would start by saying "wait..." followed by soothing words of comfort with a constant reminder to always pray for guidance.
On her last years even with her voice and speech a little crackling, her hearing and eyesight slowly failing, she would never fail to sing for us her favorite song..
"May the good Lord bless and keep you whether near or far away
May you find that long awaited golden day today
May your troubles all be small ones and your fortunes ten times ten
May the good Lord bless and keep you till we meet again
May you walk with sunlight shining and a bluebird in every tree
May there be a silver lining back on every cloud you see
Fill your dreams with sweet tomorrows never mind what might have been
May the good Lord bless and keep you till we meet again.."
