EVELYN HNATIUK (nee Ross)   June 24, 1932 - December 3, 2017

 

Born in Annan, Dumfriesshire, Scotland to Charles and Esther Ross.  Married in 1951 and moved to Canada in 1954.

Settling in Toronto, she dedicated 25 years of service to Scarborough General Hospital. Evelyn learned Ukrainian as a second language and supported local community initiatives and actively participated in the life of her parish. Predeceased by her husband, Wasyl "Bill" Hnatiuk.  Survived by her sister Norma (late Harry Campbell), daughter Evanna Luchka (late Rev. Fr. Michael Luchka), son Michael Hnatiuk (Tina), grandchildren Michael, Larysa (Andrij Sereda), Giancarlo, Paul, and Alexandra, and great-grandchildren Jacob, Zachary, and Tyler.  She will be deeply missed by family and friends.  Donations will be graciously accepted by the Alzheimer Society of Canada.  Visitation at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East (east of Kennedy Road), Scarborough, Tuesday 5-9 p.m.  Panakhyda prayer service at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral prayers to be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Volodymyr Chapel, Oakville, followed by interment at St. Volodymyr Cemetery.
