Obituary of Terry McFarlane
Terry passed away peacefully at Scarborough and Rouge Hospital – Birchmount Site on Friday November 10th, 2017 at age 90. Terry was born in Bengough, Saskatchewan and is predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Julia, eldest sister Ilona, and brothers, Lemuel, Logan, and Tommy. She is survived by sister, Lois.
She and husband George celebrated 63 years of love and marriage on October 9th, 2017. Terry was a devoted and loving mother to George (Lee-Anne), Leanne (Len), John (Karen), and foster sons, Daryl (Tracey), and Gary (Vee). Terry was a proud and adoring ‘Nana’ to Jamie, Emily, William, Austin, Lyndsay (Cameron), Carly, Molly, Tommy, Tausha, Evan, Jessica (Trevor), Breanne, Logan, Aiden, and Svara, as well as great granddaughter, Elliotte.
Terry graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948 and went on to study at the University of Manitoba, where she received her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1951. Terry and George raised their family in Agincourt and she worked for the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto for over thirty years. Terry loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, a canoe or sailboat ride at the family cottage in Parry Sound, and lived her life serving God and helping others. Terry was dedicated, passionate, and compassionate in all endeavors she pursued. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East, Agincourt (east of Kennedy) on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the Chapel at 2 p.m., with visitation an hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Terry may be made to the Children’s Aid Foundation of Toronto, Heart and Stroke Society, Covenant House Toronto, or Scarborough and Rouge Hospital – Birchmount Site.
