To Birgit and family. Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I will never forget the many miles traveled and many hours I had the privilege of sharing with Horst. Weather it be working around the race cars or just stopping by the shop for coffee, there was never a dull conversation for any race fan. Horst lived and breath racing to the fullest. However to those who knew him he was also a great people person. I walked in his shop as a complete stranger, and after a coffee and a conversation around my interest in motorsport, Horst introduced me to 5 of the most fun years of my life. I went from fan, to driver, to crew member, and most of all friend. My greatest joy was being there at Mosport for his first Can-Am victory and being with him during the Championship season. Long after his retirement, seperated by many miles apart we would share the memories over a phone. You will always be a Champion and a friend to me Horst and the memories I will never let died.

I was fortunate enough to race cars all over the World, I had heard your name mentioned on more than one occasion whilst I was travelling to different race tracks. When I came to Canada with my wife it was Terry Cleland that first introduced me to you. We had only met a few times but the stories I heard were the stuff of legend's. I built and raced many Porsche in my life, but I was no race car driver in the true essence, but you had something different, not to mention the size of your, You know... Anyway, travel fast and travel well and hope that your family will move forward knowing in their hearts that Horst was one of a kind.
