Dorothy Lilian MADDEN B.Sc., M.Sc.(nee WINSTANLEY)January 31, 1931 - April 30, 2017It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Dorothy Lilian Madden, on April 30, 2017 at the age of 86, with her family by her side. Dear wife of Dr. Raymond Madden (predeceased September 2016), sister to Barbara, and loving mother of Timothy (Carmen), Helen (Danny), Fiona (Ralph) and Edward (Jackie) and grandma to Spencer, Joshua, Nolan, Robyn, Alanna, Chloe, Austin, Hannah, Oakley, and Ryder. Dorothy was born in Wigan, England. She studied botany at the University of London earning her Masters Degree in 1955. She went on to teach botany at the secondary school level, later becoming the head of the department. In 1959 she married her beloved Ray and immigrated to Canada in 1967, where they built a wonderfully rich life together. Dorothy had a kind and gentle soul and hence was loved by all. She found great pleasure in the small things in life: a picnic in the park, capturing nature's beauty through her camera lens, watching her children flourish, playing music on her piano and enjoying her beautiful garden. Dorothy's strong faith in God sustained her throughout her life.
