REID, (Mary) Ursula (nee Platt) —In her 96th year, passed away peacefully in her Toronto Beach home, where she resided for 67 years, surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Ursula, predeceased by her husband George, was dearly loved and will be forever remembered and missed by her loving children: Angela (Alistair) Kennedy, Jane (the late John) Humphries, Patricia (Ralph) Cacace, Ian, Deborah, Annette (Bill) Sheehan. "Other Mom" will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Jeff (Leanne), Kevin (Sulie), Brendan (Natalie), Brian, Kieran, Peter (Sandra), Dan (Kelly), Chris, Patrick, Martin, Dianna (Marco), Philip, Thomas, Andrea, Lauren (Kris), Chris (Wendy), Ashley and her great-grandchildren: Jake, Sawyer, Phoenix, Kaley, Shelby, Govan, Autumn, Aubree, Jordan, Aidan, Loretta. Ursula, one of 12 children of the late Leonora and Norman Platt is survived by siblings: Marie Verity, Fr. Wallace Platt, Norman, Jeannette Windfeld. Predeceased by, Robert, Fr. Edwin Platt, Hugh, Ruth McGraw, John, Donald and Anne. (Aunt) Ursula will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Widowed at an early age, Ursula successfully raised six children. Some of her lifetime achievements include: competing in tennis, badminton, golf and bridge tournaments; serving as an RCAF lab technician in WWII; teaching and being a Vice Principal with the Metropolitan Separate School Board; and being the first lay female Principal for the York Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board. A special thank you to Chris Hashem and all the caregivers who treated Mom like their own mother. The family is forever grateful for the compassion, kindness and dedication they showed to Mom. Our sincere thanks go out to Dr. Molly Rundle and Nigel for their outstanding, compassionate medical care.Visitation will be at Ogden Funeral Homes, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E. Scarborough, http://www.ogdenfuneralhome.com, on Sunday, April 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, April 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1810 Queen St. E., Toronto, ON, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:30 a.m.Reception will be in the church hall immediately following Mass.Interment will follow reception and will be at Mount Hope Cemetery which is located at: 305 Erskine Ave., Toronto M4P 1Z7.
