MARIA ODYNSKY -
Born in Ratnawytsia, Lemkivshchyna, Ukraine, November 13, 1925 and passed away in Toronto, March 2, 2017 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband Wasyl. Her loss is mourned deeply by her children, Olya (Jaroslaw), Nikolai (Chris) and Marusia (Ron), her granddaughters Zoryana (Mikhaylo) and Natalya (Paul), great-granddaughter Sofiya and extended family members Alexei (Svitlana), also survived by her nephew Volodymyr Tenyk and family in Ukraine. Maria was grateful for the life she had in Canada, though Ukraine was always in her heart and on her mind. Devoted to her family and her community, she was a proud member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League where she celebrated 50 years of membership in 2016. Maria had golden hands, which produced beautiful clothing, embroideries, gerdany, dough figures, wheat weaving, costumes and more. She will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. The family thanks the staff of the Dorothy Ley Hospice for their compassion in her care and Father Petro Dvirnyk for his spiritual support. Visitation on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Scarborough (Sheppard Ave. E. and Midland Ave.). Divine Liturgy on Tuesday, March 7th at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, (1490 Markham Rd., Scarborough). Interment at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, 1280 Dundas St. W., Oakville, Ontario L6M 4H9.
