Angelique (Kiki) GALANIS
October 24, 1938 - December 10, 2016
Kiki passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016. Beloved wife to Sotirios; beloved mother to Connie (Vangelis), Stavroula Voula, and Dean (Maria); beloved grandmother to Angelica, Sotiri, Menelina, Menelaos, and Jason; and beloved sister to Chris and Alex. Predeceased by her parents George and Kanella Pappas. Kiki will also be remembered and forever loved by many people whose lives she touched, including a large extended family and many friends.
Kiki was born in a mountainous village in Roino, Greece, before sailing to Canada and settling in Toronto, where she would live the remainder of her life with her husband, Sotirios, whom she was married to for 51 years. Kiki will be remembered for her laughter, generosity, sense of humour, and, most importantly, for the great love she had for her family and many friends.
Kiki can best be described as a dynamic woman with a great passion for life and far too many interests to list. She had a big heart, which allowed her to love and care deeply. She especially loved children, which led her towards her final career path, working with children for the Peel Board of Education, where she worked until retirement.
In her final years, after the onset of Alzheimer's, Kiki was cared for at home by her loving family, who continued to treat her with utmost respect, dignity, and love, right up to her final moments.
The family will receive friends at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Agincourt (east of Kennedy Rd.) on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3840 Finch Ave. E., Scarborough, on Thursday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality.
