AVISON, Mary Margaret (nee Moran) —It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Avison (nee Moran), 84, of Agincourt, Ontario on Friday, November 18, 2016. Surrounded by loved ones in her final days, Mary passed away peacefully after a difficult and courageous last few weeks, which she met with her usual and unwavering grace, dignity and humour.
Born April 24, 1932 in Fort William, Ontario, Mary is survived by her husband Ted, her brothers Ted, Harold and Patrick Moran, by her 8 surviving children - Rod, Carolyn, Mark, Nancy, Luke, Kelly, Audrey and Noah, by her 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Margaret Moran, by her brothers Jack, Rod and Kenneth Moran, and by her eldest son Patrick.
Mary was a devoted wife for 64 years, a mother without equal for 63 years, and a faithful and devout Catholic for the whole of her life. She was deeply proud of her Irish heritage, had a lifelong love of music, dancing and swimming, and was a fearsome tennis opponent for any who had the misfortune of playing against her. She will be remembered for her class, her elegance and her razor-sharp wit, which blessedly stayed with her until the end.
On Mary's behalf, the family extends its sincerest gratitude to her medical team at Medcan, to the staff in the orthopedic and palliative care departments at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital, the palliative care staff at Providence Healthcare, and Mary's nephew Dr. K.C. Moran for their thoughtful and dedicated care of Mary during the past months, weeks and days.
The family will receive friends at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East, Scarborough (east of Kennedy Rd.), on Thursday, November 24, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 3526 Sheppard Ave. East (between Birchmount Rd. and Warden Ave.). Cremation to follow.
