Obituary of Mary Gaine

GAINE, Mary Josephine (nee Dal Bianco) —Mary, beloved wife for 54 years of George Derek and loving mother of Karen Dorothy, passed away peacefully at home on the night of Monday, November 7, 2016. Mary fought a courageous battle with cancer but endured her illness with strength and grace. Born on March 25, 1935 in Niagara on the Lake to Guilio and Luigia Dal Bianco. Predeceased by her three elder sisters Stella (1979), Norma (2009) and Lena (2002) and her younger brother Rudy just three days previously. Godmother to Anne Lennie and Tracey Dal Bianco and aunt to 13 nieces and nephews. Mary will be fondly remembered for her keen bridge playing skills, her perfectly coordinated outfits, loving the theatre and her divine home cooked meals and desserts. Mary took great pride in her immaculate home and picture perfect garden. Her very particular stubbornness and generous good nature will be hard to forget. The family would like to thank Alison Byworth, RN, of VHA, Tina Parassakis and Dr. Robin Pinto of The Freeman Centre for all of the loving support and guidance we have received. A special thanks and debt of gratitude also goes out to Ian and Vicky McKenzie and May and Larry Kent for all of their kindness, support and generosity. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, November 16th at the Ogden Funeral Home from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17th at 1:00 p.m., also at Ogden Funeral Home, with a reception to follow. If desired, as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.Mary will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
