STUPARYK, Nadia - November 16, 1942 - September 25, 2016 Our beloved Mom and wife of the late Dr. Michael Stuparyk, Nadia Stuparyk, died peacefully at her family home in Scarborough due to complications of diabetes and kidney failure. Mom was born in Herceg Novi, in the former communist Yugoslavia, the daughter of Marika Kraljevich and Marko Bulut. Separated from her brothers Demitri, Peter and Nickolas, Mom was raised in Belgrade, living with her mother and sister Georgina. From the age of 16, she worked throughout Europe as a housekeeper before coming to her beloved Canada. In Canada, she met the man of her dreams, Michael. She gave birth to six children - all boys. All were premature and two died shortly after birth. Dad and Mom lovingly raised their four boys: the late Matthew, and Robert, Russell and Joseph. Mom loved cooking and looking after all boys and her loving embrace welcomed everyone. She is fondly remembered by physicians and surgeons at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough as hosting the most fun parties and get-togethers for family and friends. Many children in the Highland Creek neighbourhood used to hang out at the Stuparyk's house and called Mrs. Stuparyk "Mom." When the first children from Jamaica enrolled at Highland Creek School, Mom warmly welcomed them and they practically lived at the Stuparyk home. Diabetes developed during Mom's pregnancy and stayed with her throughout her life, causing her to lose her vision and her kidneys to fail. One of the happiest moments of Mom's life was holding the hand of her granddaughter, Nadya Robertovna Stuparyk. Her sons Russell and Joseph devotedly cared for our Mom while she battled kidney failure, including providing her with home hemodialysis for 13 years. Throughout that time, Mom was never hospitalized for complications of her illness, reflecting her great love of life and her family, and Russell's and Joseph's attentive care. She was the longest surviving member of The Scarborough Hospital Hemodialysis Unit. Giving and love best describe our beloved mother. She gave everything for her sons, family and friends. May the Good Lord watch over our dear and cherished mother. Mom, we were the luckiest kids ever - to have you for our mom. There will be a Visitation and Funeral Service Friday, September 30th at 9 a.m. at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Scarborough, ON M1S 1T3.
