Obituary of John Pappas

On the morning of September 12, 2016, John Pappas left this world at the age of 75 years. Born in Molaoi, Laconia, Greece on January 28, 1941, he immigrated to Canada on March 16, 1958. At the tender age of 17, he began to settle in Toronto with his siblings looking for new beginnings and this is where he met his future wife, Katerina, and they were married on February 5, 1966. He and Katerina had two boys of whom he was fiercely proud - Perry and Chris. John ran a number of businesses throughout his life, but those of which were most rewarding and joyful were those he ran with his wife and sons. John had a witty sense of humour and was always ready with a joke or one of his legendary one-liners. With the marriages of his sons he gained two daughters, Mary and Lena and the apples of his eye, his 5 grandchildren, Katrina, big Johnny, Katerina, little Johnny and Niko. Predeceased by his beloved parents Paraskeva and Despina Pappas. His family meant more to John than anything and his family adored him. His loss to his wife, children and grandchildren is immense as it is to his siblings, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. He will be missed but never forgotten. Memory Eternal. The family will receive friends at the OGDEN FUNERAL HOME, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East on Thursday, September 15th from 4-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3840 Finch Ave. E., Toronto, on Friday, September 16th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
