Aileen Benn Born Georgetown British Guiana May 1917 died May 30, 2016.Aileen passed away peacefully surrounded by family three weeks after her 99th birthday. Aileen emigrated to Canada in 1964 and spent a career at St. Michael’s Hospital where she made many lifelong friends. Devoted to the church, gardening and social service. Aileen was an active member of the BME Christ church and the Milne House Garden Club where she won many exhibition prizes. Deceased by her husband Andrew – 1995 and daughter Barbara – 2002 – she leaves daughter Tessa Benn-Ireland of Markham and son-in-law Opeton. Sons Michael of Boston and Orrin. She will be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received by the family at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Agincourt on Friday June 10 from 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church, Markham Ontario; Saturday June 11 at 1:00 pm. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery (Scarborough). Contributions in Aileen’s name can be made to BME Christ Church 1828 Eglinton Ave West,Toronto M6E 2H6.
