Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bill Smith is a man of vision, action, and service. He has always devoted himself to charity work. He was a Boy Scout leader for a deaf Pack and taught Sunday School to teen boys.
Bill was a member of the Lions Club for 21 years and was on the Board for 12. His fundraising efforts included raising $120 000 for eye research at Western Hospital. He organized billets for a Youth Exchange with New Zealand and Australia. He traveled widely.
Bill was head of the Fun Fair Committee for the Curran Hall neighbourhood. For many years his family decorated the community centre for New Year's Eve, the church for Christmas, and for many 25th wedding anniversaries. Bill made many prize-winning floats for parades in Scarborough and was involved with the Easter Parade. He helped with the Vanier Cup and the first dance at SkyDome!
A midst all of his community involvement, Bill worked for General Motors and then at Bell Canada as a truck mechanic. He has been married to Marilyn for 55 years, is "a good father" to his 3 children and is a patient grandfather. Bill is known for his friendliness. Thank you for your tremendous example of "making the most of life,' Bill! In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
