PURTLE, Elvira Elizabeth (nee Vanderbilt) - Peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2012 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Leo Purtle. Proud and loving mother to Elizabeth Todd and Donna Walsh-Clamohoy (Victor). Doting Nana to Shannon, Bryan, Rebecca and Amelia. Ellie was a dedicated nurse at St. Michael's and Scarborough General Hospital for more than 40 years. After retirement, she continued and professionalized her passion for cruising at the Cruise Ship Centre in Ajax. She gave us many memories on our family vacations together. Her strength and integrity inspired us and many who knew her. She will never be forgotten and will be dearly missed. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Church, 1 Dormington Dr., Scarborough, on Wednesday, September 26th at 10 a.m. Private family interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Scarborough Hospital Foundation, General Campus would be appreciated. Bon Voyage Mom!
