PANIZARES, Crisogono - Peacefully passed away on September 4, 2012 at Scarborough General Hospital. He was born on November 20, 1914 in the Philippines and moved with his wife to Toronto in 1989. In his youth, he courageously fought Japanese soldiers during WWII in the Philippines and was one of the thousands of Filipino and American soldiers captured and forced to participate in the Bataan Death March. After several months of being a prisoner of war, he was eventually freed and worked several jobs such as an elections officer and as a superintendant for the school board, where he met his wife who was a teacher. He will be dearly missed by his children Reynaldo, Rodolfo, Imelda (father-in-law to Marita, Susanna and Ricardo) and his grandchildren Jo-Anne, Ronnel, Jessica, Maricel Jr, Eric and Reignneth. He is preceded by his wife Cesaria. Visitations will be held at Ogden Funeral Home (4164 Sheppard Ave. E., east of Kennedy) on Friday, September 7th from 5 - 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 8th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with the interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
