Obituary of Mrs. Dorothy Helen (Minaker) Price

Please share a memory of Mrs. Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy Helen Price on April 10, 2024 at North York General Hospital (Toronto).  Dorothy was the beloved wife and soulmate of The Honourable Vim Kochhar and the loving mother of Adam (Trang), Julie (Mark), and stepchildren Sarah (Adam) and Steven (Katrina). She was the devoted and caring “Gram” of Joshua, Benjamin, Noah and Sam Cooper and Ava and Ethan Price.  Dorothy was the dear sister of Jack (Joan) and Doug (Eleanor) Minaker.

Dorothy was a tireless champion of the disability community for over 40 years.  Dorothy’s efforts helped innumerable people with physical disabilities from paralympic athletes to the deafblind community and beyond.  Dorothy served for many years as the Executive Director of the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons (CFPDP) until her retirement in 2019.  Her dedication to making Canada the best place in the world for people with disabilities continued throughout her career and into her retirement.

Dorothy’s positive attitude, radiant smile and infectious laugh were her hallmarks. Dorothy had a deep, abiding faith and volunteered many hours supporting her church community. She was a dedicated fan of sports and games of all kinds.  She cheered on the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs with unfettered enthusiasm.  Dorothy enjoyed travelling the world and learning about the people around her and created incredible scrapbooks to remember each trip by.  Dorothy delighted in making cards that reflected the interests of each individual recipient. She loved the holidays and bringing her family together to celebrate with an abundance of good food, decorations and fun. She had a gift to make everyone who met her feel special.

All friends and family are invited to join us for a celebration of Dorothy’s life.
