Dear Auntie Frances,
From the time we first arrived in Canada, I remember your warm hugs, constant smile and cheerful nature always made us feel welcome back then and to this day. Your kindness, loving support and optimistic outlook on life was contagious and always felt whenever our families met for a cup of tea or simply dropped by for a short visit. Thank you for caring for us and sharing so many wonderful memories growing up with you around. May you rest in peace and love.
Our heartfelt condolences to Uncle Jimmy, Gary & Julie, Colin, Emily, Jeffrey & Caroline, Harvard, Sebastien, Arien.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With love, Daryl, Fiona & Jayden

My parents Maggie and Michael Chia first met Aunty Frances and Uncle Jimmy in the 1960s as they were neighbours in Westbury Court, a block of flats situated above Clapham South Station, London UK.
They found them to be a friendly, caring and considerate couple. Aunty Frances and my mother shared similar experiences and became firm friends helping and supporting one another.
Uncle Jimmy and Aunty Frances later moved out of Westbury Court to Maryland, Stratford with a young Gary and gave my parents sound advice, which was to buy property instead of rent (which, at the time was an extortionate £28.00 per month!).
One of Aunty Frances’ beautiful traits was her kind and unfailing generosity. This was demonstrated when she kindly offered to lend money to my parents for the deposit on a house. She knew that money was tight and instructed that they only pay it back when they could afford to. Uncle Jimmy also helped them to move by providing the transport. It took several trips though as his mode of transport at the time was a 3 wheeler Robin Reliant! This level of kindness and generosity is never forgotten. My parents will always be grateful and they have remained friends ever since.
Uncle Jimmy and Aunty Frances then moved to Malden Manor, Surrey and this proximity to my parents ensured that marathon mah-jong sessions were resumed at the weekends with mum cooking dinner and Aunty Frances providing her infamous and much missed trifle!
When the Chung family finally emigrated to Canada with a young Jeffrey, Aunty Frances continued to stay in touch. Without fail, there would always be a Hallmark Christmas card or thoughtfully worded birthday card written in her impeccably neat handwriting. And every lunar new year there would also be an overseas phone call from her.
Over time, we have each managed to travel and meet up, picking up where we left off. It’s as if distance was never there. Aunty Frances embraced emails and even What’s App? Which made communication easier.
We will miss the conversations and messages, her shrill laughter, the thoughtful cards, her trifles and the treats from Hamleys. We are grateful for her kindness and generosity, her wisdom and counsel but most of all, her friendship.
We send out heartfelt condolences to Uncle Jimmy, Gary and Julie, Jeffrey and Caroline, Colin and Emily, Harvard, Sebastian and Arlen as well as her siblings and extended family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Rest in peace dearest Aunty Frances and may perpetual light shine upon you. Amen.
Audrey. xx

We were introduced to Frances and her family via Maggie Chia. It was on a trip to Canada where Frances generously invited us (Maggie, Peter, my mother in law and myself) to stay at her home. She was kind and very hospitable. We later went on a 3 day bus trip together, which she said was her first trip as tourist to Canada. After that trip, we always exchanged Christmas cards. We are deeply saddened to hear of Frances’ passing and we send our thoughts and prayers to Jimmy and the family.

Dearest Aunty Frances - Thank you for all your kindness and generosity with our family. My mom and Adeline have always spoken so highly of you throughout my life and that you were such a positive force of nature in everything that you did, and sacrificing much for others. For that we are grateful. It was wonderful that I was able to meet you in Toronto and London over the years and I really enjoyed our chats. Thank you also for the guardian angel for myself and photos you gave us of your beautiful grandchildren. You were so proud of them! And thank you too for keeping Elton and I in your thoughts when we got married. I wish we could have lived in the same city. I would have loved to have hung out regularly
Wishing heartfelt condolences to Uncle Jimmy, Gary, Jefferey and families.
Aunty Frances, you were truly the captain of your own ship.
RIP
Love Elaine, Elton, Gabriel and Grayson

FRANCES stayed with us while she was studying for her teacher's diploma and our first born COLIN was very fond of her and demanded her attention when she was about to leave for the bus so she pulled out her blouse from her skirt and said COLIN I'm not going anywhere just then the bus came and she had to dash out blouse hanging out and all! We enjoyed her company very much and she was a true friend. RIP FRANCES. Our CONDOLENCES to the family's. LOVE YUMMY AND AUNTY MAUREEN

It is with a heavy heart that I write this message. The news of my dear friend Frances’s death was an awful shock. Words cannot express our sadness and we grieve with all of you. I’ll miss our regular chats; our friendship spanned 66 years!! As soon as I got the news I had to look at all the photos I have of Frances, especially those of the tour we did together a few years ago of Britain, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Rest In Peace dear Frances. Lovingly remembered by:

Ng Kar you are a one in a million sister. Always kind, caring and generous to a fault. We had such great times when I lived with you. Your colleagues couldn't' believe that we would meet once a week for lunch even though we stayed in the same house. Those were great times. You always sent out Christmas and Birthday Cards which were so thoughtfully chosen. I still have them. I will miss receiving them. You have such a great love for God and His guardian angels. Now you are flying amongst them. Love you.

Dear Uncle Jimmy, Gary (Julie) and Jeffrey (Caroline) and extended family,
On behalf of my father Patrick Low Kum (from Port Elizabeth, South Africa), we wish to extend our deepest condolences.
I know how excited my father was to make contact with her when he last came to Canada. I recall putting him on the train from Oakville and she picking him up from the Pickering Go station. He still vividly recalls that time spent as if it were the other day.
On the few times, I have met Frances, she made an immediate impression with her infectious enthusiasm and zest for life. She instantly made us all feel so welcome like old friends, leaving an indelible impression of authentic kindness and generosity.
We are thinking of you all during this time. Take care of yourselves and each other.
