Obituary of Mrs. Maizie Veneita Evans

Please share a memory of Mrs. Maizie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On March 26, 2022 Maizie Veneita (Sinclair) Evans (85) of Niagara Falls, Ontario passed away peacefully at Valley Park Lodge, Niagara Falls, Ontario in the beautiful care of her eldest daughter Patrice Bryan.

Born in Riverside, Hanover, Jamaica to the late Lascelles and Patrice (Bean) Sinclair, she eventually immigrated to England with her husband, the late Horace Percival Evans where they pastored and loved on the Nottingham New Testament Church of God.   After her husband’s passing, the nation of Canada was calling her to what would become her final physical home; and in 1976 Maizie and her five children immigrated to Canada and joined her sister, Curline (Sinclair) Murray in a career of nursing at Kennedy Lodge.  Maizie was a woman of God with a deep deep love for our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.  She was not perfect, but she knew that she was perfectly loved.  A woman deeply committed to raising her 5 children after her husband’s passing at the age of 30; a lover of worship and prayer; a lover of dancing and fun!  She will be dearly missed.

Maizie is survived by children, Patrice Bryan, Wayne (Tara) Evans, Cheryl Holmes and Ralston (Bonnie) Evans; grandchildren, Shawn (Kathy) Bryan, Adria Bryan, Christian (Elaina) Evans, Nate (Theresa) Evans, Keegan (Wen-Li) Evans, Megan Evans, Ashleigh Holmes, Aislin Evans, Abrianna Holmes and 3 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by siblings Ken Sinclair, Keith (Shirley) Sinclair, Lona Sinclair, Curline Murray and Kinsel (Wendy) Sinclair.

She was predeceased by her husband, Horace Percival Evans, daughter, Jacqueline Evans, granddaughter, Deborah Holmes, son-in-law, Anthony Holmes, brothers, Eddie Kerr and Roy Sinclair, and sister, May Grizzle.

Public Visitation will be held on April 1, 2022 from 5pm to 8pm ET at Ogden Funeral Homes 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario M1S 1T3.
