Obituary of Mr. Peng Chew Chan 陳炳超先生

Please share a memory of Mr. Peng Chew Chan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Mr. Peng Chew Chan of Scarborough, Ontario, on March 15, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Originally from Ipoh, Malaysia, he moved to Canada three decades ago. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of many years, Poh Sim Chew; children Josephine Chan (Ralph Mueller), Jacqueline Chan (Tim Chan), Andy Chan (Nancy Ng), Jenny Chan (Chris Lee); grandsons Manfred Chan, Alfred Chan, Joshua Lee, and Jonathan Lee; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Mr. Chan spent his entire career in banking, starting as a credit clerk in his early years up till his final post as an Assistant General Manager for the bank's SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications) department at the Head Office before retirement. He was also later in his life. He loved to travel, doted on his stamp collection, and although not a great cook, amassed a collection of cookbooks. He had taken many cruises with his wife, visiting many countries around the world. For example, the Mediterranean countries, the Caribbean islands, the Scandinavian and the South East Asian countries. Mr. Chan was always interested in the news of the world, and insisted on having newspapers available to him.  He also believed in continuous education, to keep his mind active.  He completed numerous correspondence courses during his retirement. He had a passion for simple things in life, and he took pride in his family.

The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Tendercare Living Centre as well as the Scarborough Grace Hospital for their compassion and care.
