Obituary of Mr. Joshua Henry
“Let the memory of Joshua Henry live on in our hearts and minds.”
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Joshua Winston Henry, otherwise known to close friends and family as “Boy Joe” or “Henry”.
God took him home on January 22nd, 2022.
Joshua was born on April 15th, 1943 in Mount Pleasant, Tobago. His father was Theophilus Henry and his mother was Doris Henry. Together, they had 11 children.
Joshua loved to share his fond memories of growing up with a large family while living on a beautiful and charming island with pristine beaches all around. He was proud of where he came from.
He met Georgiana Henry in his 20’s. They married in 1970. At that time, he realized he wanted to provide a better life for his future family and the newlyweds decided to move to Toronto, Canada just two weeks after their nuptials.
They had four beautiful boys - Lance, Marlon, Nigel and Ryan. It was a busy household. Joshua was driven to succeed and to provide for his family so he and Georgiana opened up a furniture store in Toronto (Bathurst & Bloor) called Henry’s Furniture & Carpet. Soon enough, they attracted a growing number of customers.
Joshua left a legacy as a businessman in the furniture business for over 30 years. His ambition and work ethic have left an indelible mark on his children and grandchildren.
Henry leaves behind his wife Georgiana, three sons Lance, Marlon, and Ryan, daughter-in-law Asha, grandchildren Elijah, Lanessa, and Isaiah, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in Canada, America and Trinidad and Tobago.
His big smile and infectious laugh among numerous other endearing character traits will be deeply missed. We welcome all who knew him to honour and celebrate his life.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5th 2022 at 10:00 am
