Mr. Ramjit Singh

Obituary of Mr. Ramjit Singh

Please share a memory of Mr. Ramjit to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mr. Ramjit Singh, lovingly known as ‘Boda’, was born on April 1st, 1937 in Non Pariel, County of Demerara, Guyana to his parents, Brijmohan and Sumintra Singh.

On December 14th, 2021, at the age of 84, Ramjit peacefully passed away while earlier being surrounded by his children and family. Mr. Singh was very well known to many of his fellow Guyanese community members, and will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he came to touch.

His family will cherish the memories of him telling jokes, spreading verses, making people laugh, his energy, his dancing, and his love and devotion to his family. His genuine spirit of making people feel welcome and his ability to make conversation with anyone he came across will always be remembered.

Ramjit was a strong and passionate person, and he enjoyed building his life and helping raise his family. Coming to Canada as an immigrant in the 1980’s, he planted the seeds of a tree that has now grown far and wide.

With heavy hearts, Boda will be sadly missed by his surviving family including his dear wife of 61 years, Preyabartee Gladys Singh; his children: Nalini, Vick, Raj, and Aditya; son-in-law Jerry and daughter-in-law’s Roshani, Nafeeza and Nalini; his grandchildren: Navindra, Ravindra, Shashendra, Dev, Atima, Shabana, Natasha, Reshma, Salena, Ryan, Shiyan, Niresa; his grandchildren’s partners: Chavon, Fiona, Divya; his great grandchildren: Ishaan, Jayden, Shivay; Brother Baljit ‘Looks’ Singh and Family, Brother Inderjit ‘Babu’ Singh and Family, and many other cousins, nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends (too many to list).

Mr. Singh had a long and happy life filled with auspicious memories. Many will remember him being a wonderful storyteller, a brilliant orator, and a warm and kind soul. Some of his favourite activities were playing the lotto, watching his favourite game shows, trivia, and word puzzles. But perhaps his favourite things to do was spend time with his family, socialize, gather, and of course have a good and spirited time!

With so much love, admiration and respect for this head of the family, we hope that he will indeed find eternal peace and enjoy smiling down on future generations to come…

The viewing will be on Thursday December 16th from 5 to 8pm at the Ogden Funeral Home. This will be followed by the Funeral and Memorial Service on Friday December 17th from 11 to 1pm, also at the Ogden Funeral Home.
