I hate that I’m writing this as this is something for someone that I never wanted to do.
First, my deepest condolences for Clayton’s family. I feel I know you all as I got to hear all the stories over the years and never was he ever more proud of his niece and nephews. Emma? The only picture he had in his office was of you, Sophie, Jayden and Noah. He so loved you and I’m sad that your “twin” is not here with you.
Erle? I’m heartbroken that your son is now with Linda, and that you have to go through this. Know he loved and respected you as a true man and caregiver.
My deepest condolences to Paul, you were the happiness he had up until the end and he will live on with you every day as long as you let him. You knew the Clayton no one else did. The precious intimate, vulnerable moments.
Then lastly for his family that wasn’t “blood”. Adam you lost a brother in every sense of the word and probably knew a completely different Clayton than any of us. You and the gang I’m sure have the best stories. Keep talking and remembering them.
Clayton started out as my coworker, then my manager and finally a friend. We spent so much time with one another at work and then outside of work. He was a funny, full of life, honest gentleman. He would never let a woman lift anything up if he was around. And the protective side of him would come out if someone hurt you. He was never too busy to listen (unless it was a weekday and after 4 o’clock), and would make time to get together or attend important dates. We both had a sick sense of humour, so our outings were usually trying to embarrass the other one. I used to call Clayton the youngest oldest man I knew. He sometimes would come out with expressions that I would expect a grandfather to say but in the next breath be young and cool again. Clayton and I were talking about doing a celebration of life while he was still around. He said he wanted to hear the funny stories and nice things people would say about him. Sadly, time was not in our favour. I know he’ll hear these words and I know him and Linda are probably getting up to no good right now, but that doesn’t change that I miss him so and wish we could have one more embarrassing outing together. Thank you Clayton for stepping up and being my new brother when mine passed. I will forever be grateful that I was truly blessed to have you in my life while I did.

I met Clayton through my mum Shaney. I instantly clicked with him, he reminded me so much of Uncle Tyler who had passed. I love the relationship him and my mum had. He was so kind, awesome sense of humour and an all round great guy. My condolences go out to his family, friends, my mum and his partner Paul. I can’t imagine losing someone you love so suddenly and unexpectedly. The last text I sent Clayton was letting him know how much he meant to our family and truly sorry I was that he received the news he did. Let him know if there was anything I can do to help I would. He replied with
“Morning B!
What a beautiful read to read in the morning when I’m grateful to wake up
I’m so happy I’ve been able to naturally connect with Shaney and share thousands of laughs and down to earth solution sessions. She has impacted my life in ways I’ll be entirely grateful for. You also welcomed me with open arms and love - I feel like I’ve known you naturally for ever. You take care of yourself and your Moma as the days go on. With endless love, Clayton. ”
I’m so glad I have that to look back on. He would message me every year during pride weekend and ask where I was heading to meet up for a drink in true Clayton fashion. I made him a basket with all his favourite snacks and goodies, unfortunately time wasn’t on our side and I wasn’t able to deliver it but I’ll make sure my mum and I enjoy it on behalf of him! I will miss him dearly. Rest easy Clayton, I know you’re with your mum now. ❤️

There’s a period of my life I look back on that always puts a smile on my face, and Clayton was a huge part of that time. I got to spend time with him in so many different settings - PTC, nightlife, vacation. I’m grateful for all the fun and great conversations. Although recent years our lives didn’t cross paths, but I’m grateful for the time I spent with him and the memories made. Clayton had a beautiful personality, and was such a genuine person.
I don’t think of that time without thinking of him. Thank you so much for the good times and memories Clayton ❤️

Meeting Clayton five years ago, the connection was instantaneous, no hesitation, no awkwardness, just immediate understandings . He became a true brother to me, a deeply valued mentor whose wisdom I always took to heart, and a friend who promised big adventures, vacations, and future experiences that he was so excited to share.
Clayton’s personality was completely magnetic. He had a rare gift where he could walk into a room of ten strangers and build a genuine connection with every single one of them, leaving them feeling truly seen and listened to. He was also fiercely, unapologetically himself. Who else could proudly wear the exact same police costume every single Halloween, entirely unbothered by embarrassment, completely owning it and making it iconic.
He was a profound thinker, a progressive soul, and someone who was simply full of life, hope, and dreams. He brought the best energy wherever he went, always ready to blast his favorite house music and celebrate the 90s and 2000s divas he loved so much. Clayton was a beautiful, vibrant soul who left a permanent mark on my life. He is missed immensely, but the joy and laughter he gave us will live on forever.
Dance in peace my love.

I first met Clayton when I was in 7th grade, at a time when I was being bullied and felt so incredibly alone. He along with Adam, and Dustin made me feel surrounded by love and laughter and acceptance. Clayton always brought the energy. If there was a good time to be had. There he was. And he made sure you were included. Even since moving to another country and not having talked for decades. It breaks my heart to hear of his passing. The world is surly lost an incredible light. I hope everyone's fondest memories comfort them in their grief. Clayton was a wonderful person who made everyone feel better, just by being around him. I will miss you my friend.

Clayton in every interaction over the years always made an effort to connect, praise and celebrate. He always sought to include me in the conversation, make me feel welcome and seen. I will always appreciate the times we got to spend together and catch up.

Clayton coming back into my life should have happened sooner, but I’m grateful he did. His laugh was infectious. Clayton held his closest friends near to his heart and had the highest hopes for them.
He was amazing to sit around and chat with and likewise to act a fool with at a party. I’m going to miss him, and think of all the great times we had together often.
You are gone too soon Clayton. You never wanted sympathy when you heard about your diagnosis, and I refused to give it. But now I want to give it out to all those whom he touched so deeply. The people I know, and the people I don’t, can all agree that Clayton was a cut above the rest and will remembered always with love.
