Getting to know Bob over the last 20 years has been very special for me. In the beginning, meeting him at family gatherings, I always felt like I gravitated toward his calm personality and his friendly demeanor. Then I discovered that he had been a teacher (which I was, as well, at the time) and he had a similar passion for baseball. After that, chatting with him at family events became some of my favourite moments. When Bob took up residence at Wexford, Tyler and I enjoyed heading up to pop in and chat, talking about politics, sports, and whatever else was going on in the world. I loved hearing about his travels, his love for Alice, and his memories of his kitties. When Tyler and I found ourselves in some stressful situations, Bob was always a source of calm and respite for us. I often found myself heading up there and watching entire games with him, sometimes chatting, sometimes just sitting quietly. Bob listened to us stress, babble, and vent, with kindness and sympathy, and provided a calming presence for us when we really needed it. Tyler and I miss our visits and talks, and will forever remember his kindness and his friendship.
