Sincere condolences to the family and friends of our dearly departed dentist, Past Region Chair (PRC) Lion "Danny" Danilo Masangcay GALICIA Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (PMJF), a long-serving Lion of over 33 years, first as a member of Quezon City Novaliches Lions Club District 301-D2 Manila Philippines, then to Canada with the Toronto Mabuhay Lions Club, Wishing Well Lions Club, and Toronto Bayanihan Lions Club, as a dedicated Lion for over three decades of sterling service to his club, community, and humanity.
Among other roles, Lion Danny served at the club level as Charter President, LCIF Coordinator and Secretary of the Toronto Bayanihan Lions Club (2023-2025); Club President and Marketing Chairperson of the Wishing Well Lions Club (2022-2023); Club President, VP, LCIF Coordinator, Marketing Chairperson, Secretary, Director of the Toronto Mabuhay Lions Club (2008-2023), and Director of the Quezon City Novaliches Lions Club District 301-D2 Philippines (1991-2008).
At the District level it was always a pleasure to serve with Lion Danny in the many roles he lead including Zone Chairperson (2015-2018), Region Chairperson (2018-2019), District Global Extension Team Coordinator (2022-2025) as well as Guiding Lion, Lions Awareness Booth Chairperson at the CNE and other events, District Convention Registrar, Convention Raffle Draw Chairperson, among others.
As District Global Extension Team Coordinator Lion Danny was instrumental in the formation of over 20 clubs in the last 10 years including Toronto Maharlika, Toronto Harmony, Toronto Achievers, Toronto Sinagtala, Toronto Pillar of Hope, Toronto Bona, Toronto Evergreen, Toronto Mahal Kita, Toronto Distinction, Toronto Infini, Toronto Wellness, Toronto Nigerian, Etobicoke Alpha, GTA Legacy, Toronto Bayanihan, Toronto Latino, Toronto Supreme, Stipley, GTA Provision Entrepreneurs, and Toronto Unity Lions Clubs among others.
An avid membership recruiter, Lion Danny was instrumental in growing the membership in each of the clubs he served and sponsored many members into our Lions Family.
A Certified Guiding Lion (CGL) extraordinaire Lion Danny guided the formation of many clubs and served in the official capacity as Guiding Lion of the Toronto Harmony Lions Club (2019-2021); Guiding Lion of the Toronto Achievers Lions Club (2020-2022); Guiding Lion Toronto Wellness Lions Club (2023-2025); Guiding Lion of Stipley Lions Club (2025); and Guiding Lion of the Toronto Unity Lions Club (2025).
Lion Danny was a proud graduate of Advanced Lions Leadership Institute (2024 Grand Finale Vancouver BC Canada), and Faculty Development Institute (2025 Denver CO USA), and was looking forward to graduating with his Lions University Doctorate (2026 in Memphis TN USA) having completed his Lions University Masters (2025 in Atlantic City NJ USA) and Lions University Bachelors (2023 in Reno NV USA).
Lion Danny at the time of his passing was running unopposed for the position of 2nd Vice District Governor 2026-2027 to be elected at the A711 District Convention April 10-12, 2026.
We send heartfelt kind thoughts as we mourn his loss with his beloved wife Lion Rowena, his sons Ryland and Owen, brothers and sisters and their families, as well as his many relatives, friends, colleagues including the Lions family - members of his Toronto Bayanihan Lions Club (2023-2025), Wishing Well Lions Club (2021-2023), and Toronto Mabuhay Lions Club (2008-2011) in particular, and all Lions of Zone 58A, Region 58, District A-711 (Toronto, Peel, Halton, Hamilton-Wentworth), Multiple District A (Ontario), Constitutional Area 2 (Canada), and Lions International.
As a Lion, PRC Lion Danny GALICIA's legacy of service reflected the spirit of Lions: leadership rooted in service, and service that inspires further leadership! He lived the Lions Motto "WE SERVE" as a dedicated Lion giving generously of his time, talent, and treasure in sterling service to his club and community.
Do take solace that "when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure".
May his soul rest in eternal peace with strength to the family members to bear the loss.

My encounter with Lion Danny was brief at our leadership program in Denver. His compassion and dedication toward others was effusive and inspiring. Everyone has the capacity to make the world a better place for others. Yet, only those with a generous heart choose to do so and they shall show the way. Danny had a generous heart and his legacy resides in the lives of those affected by his service.

The CNE Association is deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and dedicated volunteer, Danilo “Danny” Galicia.
Danny was a committed member of the Lions community and a true champion of the CNE. For many years, he attended Opening Day ceremonies and organized Lions volunteers at the CNE Membership Booth during the final weekend of the Ex, greeting thousands of guests with warm smiles, and helping to expand our community of supporters.
His contributions have left a lasting imprint on our organization, and we will deeply miss his presence at the CNE.
We are grateful to have shared so many memories with him, including his time at the Opening Day and Membership Booth.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Rowena, Rylan, Owen, extended family and to the entire Lions family.
May he rest in peace.
