Obituary of Mrs. Simonetta Rodriguez
Simonetta Seemoy Rodriguez of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, on the morning of Sunday, September 7th, 2025.
Dearly loved by her family; her children Anthony, Ann-Marie, Susan, Martin, Allyson (daughter-in-law) and Francis (deceased); her grandchildren Jason, Justin, Keisha, Marrisa and Kyle; and her great grandchildren; Kaniki, Nija, Jada, Isiah, Adhora, Jaton, Jerome, Zoraya, Amiah, Niya, Celise, Zuri and Bryson, and her many nephews, nieces and cousins in Trinidad, Calgary and the United States.
Simonetta was a devoted homemaker and faithful member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish. Simonetta was known for her warmth, generosity, and unmatched cooking skills, she brought people together through the simple joy of sharing food. Her bake and saltfish, homemade sorrel, fresh bread, and ponche de créme were staples not just in her kitchen, but in the hearts of everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
More than anything she was the matriarch of her family – a steady, guiding light whose wisdom, patience and love shaped the lives of her grandchildren both near and far. She was a pillar not only in her home but also in her family to her nieces and nephews. Her love of attending masses, cooking and listening to Parang are not to go unmentioned – All now she would be livestreaming parang from the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago, and eagerly planning and preparing for Christmas, one of her favourite seasons next to Easter.
Her presence was a blessing, and her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. But her legacy – of family love, faith and resilience will live on in her family.
The funeral service will be held on September 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.
