A Letter to Aunt Dorothy, As we prepare to celebrate your life, I want you to know how much you meant to me and my family. You will always be a very special person to us … kind, thoughtful and loving. When we visited you or spoke to you on the phone, you lifted our spirits; we felt good and had a smile on our face. We will always remember you and be happy you were in our lives. I am reminded of you and Uncle Bill when I walk by the rose bush in our garden which you gave my parents many years ago. Our fond memories of Dorothy span over 40 years. She had a way of making you feel special at all times. Whether entertaining or being entertained, she always had a smile and loved to laugh along with you. Dorothy was a kind and gentle person that respected everyone. There was always a standing invitation to visit while in Florida with our family at Holiday Park. They have the best grapefruits, my kids would say. A memory that stands out for Ralph is Dorothy and Bill dancing gracefully at our wedding and Dorothy coming to visit his mom in hospice. My kids also have fond memories as well and admired her tenacity in her later years on her own. Still driving is she? How wonderful! Dorothy will be missed but she is reunited with the love of her life, who has been patiently waiting. Our condolences to the families who will always miss her. Aunt Dorothy was a very special and amazing person. She was always willing to go along to the beach with us even if she was frozen. She would climb up into Harvey’s big truck (and also fell out of) willing to go. We celebrated many of her birthdays with her in her Florida home. She will be missed but I am sure she is now happy to be with her beloved Bill. They both were truly amazing.
