Obituary of Mr. David Abbott
In Loving Memory of David Abbott
October 29, 1961 – March 22, 2025
David Abbott passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, after a courageous 10-month battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, David was the beloved son of the late Huntley Abbott and Betty Brooks (formerly Abbott), and stepson of Robert Brooks.
David immigrated to Canada with his mother in the early 1970s, growing up in Toronto and Brampton. In the 1980s, he returned to Jamaica, where he met the love of his life, Sandra. The two married in 1990 and would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on July 22, 2025. In 2000, David made the decision to return to Canada with his wife and children to build a better life for his family.
A devoted husband to Sandra and a loving father to Sarah and Carl, David’s greatest pride was his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his relatives in Jamaica, Florida, and across Canada.
David was a born-again Christian, strong in his faith, and always reminded those around him to trust in God. Even when faced with a terminal diagnosis, David remained remarkably positive and unafraid of death. His strength, grace, and unwavering belief never wavered—but his greatest fear was leaving his family behind.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the team at Lakeridge Health in both Oshawa and Bowmanville for their care and compassion throughout David’s journey.
David has been cremated, and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Ogden Funeral Home, located at 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, ON.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
