Angela Yvonne Clarke

December 4 1944  To  March 9 2025

    It is with sadness we share that Angela Yvonne Clarke passed away peacefully at the age of 80. Born to the parents of Eileen Davis Clarke (dec) and Milton Clarke (dec) from Trinidad and Tobago.

    Angela was born in the beautiful Island of Trinidad and Tobago. She is the third of 5 siblings Cheryl (sister dec), Pamela (sister (dec), Steve (brother dec), Tony (brother dec)

     

    Angela is survived by her daughter Hazel Clarke, granddaughter Marissa Clarke, her godson Junior White, her nephew Garth Clarke, and all her nieces and nephew back in Trinidad. Her cousin Annette in Trinidad. Her friends Audrey, Lyn, Sherry, Virgina, Lorna, Jennifer, Pat, Cathy, Edward, Ruby, Shanta, Barba, Daphnie, Mascall, Susan and many more.

 

    Angela came to Canada in 1969 leaving behind her daughter Hazel and a successful modeling career. In Canada there were many opportunities from which she chose. So, with a purpose and a drive, she attended George Brown College and Seneca College where she studied Fine Art Pattern, Drafting, Fashion Design, Tailoring and Bridal Design. Angela also went to Marvel Beauty school, where she received her Diplomas and Certificates from these courses. She also worked at Simpson’s Department store.

 

    In 2018 Angela received the Scarborough Excellence Award for Community Service. In 2018 she also received an award from the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women. My mom, having achieved her goals through her drive and hard work, and determination eventually opened her Beauty Salon and Fashion Boutique.

 

    Having achieved her education, Angela shared her knowledge and accomplishments and talents within her community. Her leadership was quite an inspiration, especially towards the advancement of black women and girls in her community, who became very successful in life. Angela would teach sewing and craft classes at Warden Woods Community Centre. Also, at the Kingston Galloway Orton Park Centre like the Store Front and the Hub. She volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club; She did food and clothing drives for the food bank. Angela also did bus trips to the Casinos and put on craft and fashion shows for the past 45 years. These activities were part of her life which she loved very much. She was an inspiration Exemplifying Community Leader.

 

    Volunteering was her way of connecting with the community. She demonstrated her support for the advancement by helping with the Black History Month events, promoting fashion and talent shows. She was a very ambitious and dedicated lady with numerous talents. She was a very busy woman; she loved to make her Island Dolls, always sharing her skills with others, and she was willing to teach people her skills who wanted to learn. Using her talents Angela was always decked out with an outfit she designed and sewed for herself. She was an inspiration to many. Her education crafted the person she was.
