Obituary of Mrs. Christa Herta Reinke

Please share a memory of Mrs. Christa Herta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Her beautiful smile and positive outlook on life, love of family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished.

Christa Herta Reinke aged 95, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 at Wexford Long Term Care in Scarborough, Ontario surrounded in loving embrace.  Mom was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Reimer Reinke (2001), her daughter Angelika Preston (2013) as well as her parents Herta and Heinrich von der Burg and her brother Heini von der Burg.

She is survived by her daughter Regina (Gregory) Sheere, son Thomas Reinke, granddaughter Christine (Frank) Veraart and her great granddaughter Christa Veraart, her sister Gitta Schmidt in Germany.

Mom worked hard all her life and upon retirement spent many years travelling both with Dad and after his death with friends or alone when visiting her daughter Angelika in New York and Regina in Calgary to spend time with her young granddaughter at that time.  Her absolute favourite travel adventure was to the beautiful Island of Hawaii, a lifelong dream.

She cherished her many friends especially Alvine and Maria along with their spouses.  Mom loved to entertain and her fabulous cooking and baking was enjoyed by family and friends over the years.  Her Birthday was always celebrated in grand style.  Laughter and song were special moments shared.  We want to thank Wexford for the wonderful care, the doctors and nursing staff and PSW’s as well as the Palliative Care team that were incredibly supportive.

Cremation has taken place.  Her memory will live on as we celebrate her life at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice in Christa’s name would be most appreciated

Flowing skirt twirling

                In circles

As she dances on tables

                Singing her song

Embracing the Air

                As the soft wind

Enhances the delirium of her joyful notes

                That carry us along

Rest in Peace Mama
