Mrs. Maribeth (Maria Bernardita) Empensando (nee Sevilla)
The family is saddened to announce that Maribeth passed away peacefully at the age of 75, on January 8, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. As a breast cancer survivor she was recognized for her strength and perseverance.
A pharmacist trained at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, Maribeth immigrated to Canada at a very young age. She spent several years helping the rest of the Sevilla family settle and establish a successful life in Canada. She travelled the world and lived a life that many dream of after retiring at the young age of 55.
Maribeth was a highly respected member of the Filipino community. As a member of several community groups such as the San Juan Batangas Association of Metro Toronto, and the St. Joseph’s Church choir, she developed many close friendships and had a thriving social life.
She was widely known for her generosity by opening up her doors to host new comers and celebrations. Friends and family were always welcome at her home and many significant memories are cherished because of her hospitality.
Loving wife to Roger Empensando. Dear mother of Mary Joyce (Keith) and Vanessa (Reggie). Beloved Lola of Jessica, Tristan, Cameron, Sydney, Cassidy and Xavier.
