Iris Margaret Hogg, age 87, died peacefully on Friday July 27, 2018 at Shepherd Lodge L.T.C. Facility after a short illness.  Iris, the only child to Margaret and Walter Blease, was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England on September 16, 1930.  In 1955, she married Alan Hogg and together they emigrated to Toronto, Canada, where they raised their three boys.  Iris was the loving mother to Ian, Kevin and Keith and shared with them her passion for music,  they loved to listen to their mother play the piano.  Iris had always wanted to pursue a career in hospital work, and once her three sons were attending school, she enrolled in a medical transcription course.  For over 20 years, Iris worked at North York General Hospital, eventually heading a department of medical transcriptionists.  In her spare time, Iris was an active member of the Bridlewood Chapter of the IODE.  She was a grandmother of 6, Colin, Olivia, Winston, Matilda, Connor and Emily and great grandmother to Iris and godmother to Christine Rowland and Michael Wood.  Iris is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Alan, her sons Ian (Alison Barrett), Kevin (Tracy) and Keith (Trish Houston).

Visitation will take place at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., (at Midland) on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 2-6 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 in the Chapel at 1 pm.

The family would like to thank the staff at Scarborough Grace Hospital and Shepherd Lodge L.T.C. Facility for their support and care.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd Lodge Inc., the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice.
