Obituary of Antonina "Nina" Pizzurro

Antonina Pizzurro - Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 24, 2017. Antonina was a devoted wife of 59 years to the late Fortunato. Antonina was adored and will be affectionately remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her four children, Sarah (Paul Policaro), Ross (Joanne Piazza), Carmen (Sylvia Bruni), Mary-Jane (Brian Courchesne). She will be affectionately missed by her 12 grandchildren, Francesco (Maria-Angela Tagliabue), Lina (Mark Pavkovic), Nina (Michael Van Vugt), Fortune (Rizwan Malik), Amanda(Corey Andolina), Ross, Luke, Mia, Fortunato, Gina, Owen, and Max and her 3 great grand children, Alessandra, Julia, and Sebastian. Antonina was born in Roccavaldina, Messina, Sicily. She immigrated to Toronto in 1958 with her family, began working as a seamstress and loved to entertain for her extended family. Through prayer, perseverance and devotion to her Church, built a loving home for herself and children. She was a role model and inspiration. She was blessed with patience and piety. Her many friends will remember her for her kindness and generosity. Friends will be received at Ogden Funeral Home (4164 Sheppard Ave. E. Scarborough) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 28th, 2017 3rd, at 9:30 a.m. at Epiphany of our Lord Roman Catholic Church (3200 Pharmacy Ave) followed by entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Michael’s Foundation.
