Jolene and Herschell I am so saddened to hear about the passing of your dear Mother, Evadne. She was a bright light in our world - always with a beautiful smile and welcoming words. She was a wonderful neighbour and generous with her time when my daughter and grandchildren needed some extra love and assistance. I looked forward to seeing her (and both of you) when I made my visits to Orleans. She always had your best interests at heart. She worked hard to provide for you and whatever was left, she gave to her job, her church, her friends and anyone else that needed more … We have treasured memories which will stay with us forever. Bless you, Evadne. Pam (Allison’s Mom)

Q: How would you describe Mrs. Evadne to someone who had never met them? A: Evadne was someone you would immediately warmed to—her welcoming presence and natural ability to connect with others made her truly a people person.

There are some people who quietly change your life simply by the way they live, love, and care for others. Evadne was one of those people. When I became a single mother after my divorce, raising two young children, Evadne and her family lived across the street from us. What began as being neighbours quickly became something much more. She and her children welcomed my family with kindness, friendship, and unwavering support during one of the most difficult chapters of my life. As a dedicated personal support worker, Evadne devoted her life to caring for others. She worked tirelessly, often holding multiple jobs, to provide for her children while continuing to serve those who needed her compassion. She was the very definition of strength, selflessness, and resilience. When I faced my own cancer diagnosis and recovery, Evadne and her family were there for me. They helped with childcare, offered encouragement, and reminded me that I was never alone. I will never forget the generosity, love, and practical support they gave my family during that time. It made a lasting difference in our lives. Despite the challenges she carried, Evadne remained one of the most positive people I have ever known. Her faith in God was evident in the way she lived—with hope, grace, and quiet courage. She inspired those around her not through grand gestures, but through her everyday acts of love and service. To her children, thank you for sharing your incredible mother with so many people whose lives she touched. Her love, strength, and faith live on in both of you and in everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Thank you, Evadne, for your friendship, your kindness, your generosity, and the countless ways you helped my family. We are better because of you, and we will carry your memory with us always. May you rest in God's eternal peace.
