Girlie is one of my best cashier when I worked in downtown. She has this smiling face all through the day no matter how busy we are. She’s easy to get along with. She’ll be missed by a lot of people. May her Soul Rest in Peace.

I met Gerlie many years ago and we became fast friends. She was the kindest, loving, and most generous soul I have met. Through her, I also met her big, loving family, and have had many cherished memories with them. Although, we lost touch in the last few years, there has always been a spot in my heart for Gerlie. You are no longer in pain, my friend, my dearest "pangit". Nanay and Tatay are with you now. Terry Wong (pangit)

I first met Gerlie at the Esso at Don Mills and Sheppard in June of 1997. What started as coworkers quickly became a friendship that meant so much to me. Over the years we grew very close, and even after I moved on to a different career, we always stayed in touch. Gerlie was one of the best people I ever worked with and one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever known. She was always giving of herself and caring for others, never asking for anything in return. Her family took such loving care of her, and it was clear how deeply she was loved. She, in turn, cared so much for her nieces and nephews and spoke of them with such pride and love. We stayed connected through Facebook, which makes it so hard to believe she is gone. I will always be grateful for her friendship and the memories we shared. Gerlie will never be forgotten and will be deeply missed. Randy Welikala
